When last we saw Fennec Shand in The Mandalorian, she’d been shot and left for dead in the Tatooine desert. A mysterious figure approached and kneeled over before Chapter 5, “The Gunslinger,” faded to black. That Hashtag Show has exclusively learned a number of details about The Mandalorian Season 2, including the fact that Ming-Na Wen will indeed appear in the show again.

Our source close to the series’ production informed us that the Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. actress isn’t done with the show yet. Her character survives, as Wen was on set and filming as Fennec Shand for The Mandalorian Season 2. Now the question turns to the identity of her mysterious savior. Speculation says it could be anyone from Moff Gideon, to Boba Fett, to even Clone Wars bounty hunter Cad Bane.  But Ming-Na Wen’s return isn’t the only Season 2 detail we learned.

The show’s first season was chocked full of Star Wars original trilogy throwbacks. The Mandalorian Season 2 looks to continue that trend with two more throwback characters, as well: Sandtroopers and Imperial Gunners. Now, the appearance of Sandtroopers is intriguing. Could they be linked to Tatooine, and perhaps Fennic Shand’s rescue? That could be interesting considering their only appearance on the planet thus far has been via their helmets on spikes. It could, however, signal Din Djarin’s travel to yet another Outer Rim, desert planet in Star Wars.

More intriguing for The Mandalorian Season 2 are the Imperial Gunners. The clamshell-helmeted troopers are usually seen at Imperial installations or on capital ships.  If they’re still around, it’s a good guess that we’re going to see a lot more of Moff Gideon and his residual, Imperial forces.

Now, of course and as always, nothing is official until we hear it from Lucasfilm. But…. When you see these characters in the fall, you can say you learned it here first.

The Mandalorian Season 2 arrives October, 2020 on Disney+.
