Well Star Wars fan it has finally happened, well kind of. Today in an exclusive report from USA Today we have learned that the Star Wars: Holiday Special is coming to Disney+. Now it isn’t what you think, this Holiday Special will be given the LEGO treatment. I know we we all hoping that Jon Favreau was announcing is new remake of this Star Wars Classic, but until then the LEGO version will have to do.

Get ready, Life Day on November 17th is going to be full of fun. That’s right, not only can you watch the original Star Holiday Special (more then likely on YouTube), The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special will be premiering on Disney+ that day as well.

Premiering Nov. 17 on the Disney+ streaming service, “The Lego Star Wars Holiday Special” brings beloved heroes like Rey, Finn and Poe Dameron back together to celebrate Life Day, the “Star Wars”-y holiday introduced way back in the infamous “Star Wars Holiday Special” that first aired on CBS November 17, 1978.

What to Expect

This new special will feature many different LEGO minifigure characters throughout the history of Star Wars. USA Today also say it will pay “homage to the speical’s disco-era predecessor.”

“We wanted to give a wink and a nod to the original,” executive producer Josh Rimes says, adding the new 45-minute holiday special was inspired by “It’s a Wonderful Life,” “Planes, Trains and Automobiles,” “Christmas Vacation” and old Burl Ives musical cheer.

Rimes also teases that the new Holiday Special will feature a few Star Wars movie actors reprising their roles.

The Holiday Special Storyline

“Rey and droid pal BB-8 head off on a quest to gain a deeper knowledge of the Force, but their visit to a mysterious Jedi Temple sends them careening through time and space. Rey interacts with Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda and other characters in some of the franchise’s most beloved moments, as they try to return in time for a Life Day feast with her friends on Chewbacca’s Wookiee home world of Kashyyyk.”
