Anthony Daniels, the man behind the gold-plated chassis of C-3PO, confirms that as long as he’s alive, he’ll never leave Star Wars. Even if he’ll likely never get into an actual suit again.

In an exclusive interview with CinemaBlend, Anthony Daniels confirmed that retirement from Star Wars is not an option he’s going to ever pursue. In fact, he was actually very vocal about staying on to play C-3PO. His exact words were:

No, I’m never going to retire. They’re going to have to throw me out the door…Life is not over, the films, may be taking a back seat for 3PO, for a very very long time, I would think. But there’s all sorts of other media, particularly now with digital formats, that I’m so happy, and grateful and proud to be part of.

Yeah, at Daniels’ current age of 74, getting into a metal suit for the live-action Star Wars movies might be a bit much. Thankfully, as he said, digital media is an option for him now. He can play C-3PO all he wants without ever getting into a suit. So huzzah for modern technology!

Anthony Daniels Will Never Have a Bad Feeling About This

The man and the suit are as inseparable as C-3PO and R2-D2.

It’s no coincidence that Anthony Daniels is going up on stage about Star Wars. He’s busy promoting the release of The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special in his C-3PO voice. Why now? Apparently, that movie was released just yesterday on November 17 on Disney+.

The Parody is strong with this one.

It makes Anthony Daniels’ mentions of digital media make even more sense. For obvious reasons, an animated movie would not require him to get into a metal suit. Thus, Daniels can play C-3PO for the entirety of The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special without ever having to leave his recording booth. Let’s hope that more Star Wars animated media (Possibly even in a Star Wars anime as well?) will come about so that we can continue to hear Daniels play C-3PO for years to come.

Conclusion

Anthony Daniels has absolutely no intention of retiring from Star Wars. This is especially true now that animated Star Wars media like The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special. He seems determined to play C-3PO to the bitter end. Let us all hope that end won’t be for years to come.
