Blake Lively’s got a killer new role. The actor will star in and produce the upcoming adaptation Lady Killer.

Oscar winner Diablo Cody (Juno, Jennifer’s Body) will adapt the screenplay based on the Dark Horse comic series.

Lively will play the lead Josie Schuller. By all appearances, Josie is the perfect 1950s housewife. But when she’s not catering to the needs of her family, she leads a secret life as a highly-trained killer for hire.

The comic series was written by Joëlle Jones and Jamie S. Rich, illustrated by Jones, and colored by Laura Allred. Dark Horse published the first issue in January 2015. Since then, the comic received great critical reception, earning an Eisner Award nomination for Best Limited Series in 2016.

Lively will also produce Lady Killer alongside Kate Vorhoff for B for Effort. Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg will produce under Dark Horse Entertainment.

Lively previously showed off some darkly humorous (and murderous) chops in A Simple Favor and The Rhythm Section. Combined with Cody’s writing, this adaptation certainly sounds promising.

Dark Horse has a first look deal with Netflix. The pair partnered on the hugely successful Umbrella Academy series and Jonas Åkerlund’s feature Polar.

So, are you ready to see Lively take on another glamorous-but-deadly role? Did you read the original Lady Killer comics? Drop your thoughts on the adaptation in the comments!
