Hello everyone, your friendly neighborhood Professor Hulk here. We’re about to drop some knowledge on some exciting stuff going on in the film and TV world. Last time we shared with you that a Netflix Mass Effect series is in development, but this week we have an update on Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Heroes For Hire.

As some of you may recall, a while back I reported on the return of some Marvel-Netflix actors and characters. But not among them was Mike Colter’s Luke Cage and Finn Jones’ Iron Fist. After that post, everyone asked one universal question:

“What is Marvel planning to do with these characters?”

So I did some digging around, and I can exclusively share some news that may be great to some, devastating to others. Marvel Studios is looking to reboot the two characters with a Heroes For Hire Disney+ series. According to my sources, the series features the two with new actors portraying both characters.

Iron Fist Is Back? What About Luke Cage?

Heroes For Hire

It’s said that for Finn Jones, the reason for Marvel deciding not to include him was due to the baggage of his performance. Despite it not being his fault, many people have perceived his take as Iron Fist as a complete failure. Agree or not, there’s just not enough value in bringing Finn back when there’s too much negativity surrounding his performance. There was thought to bring Mike Colter back for the character after a meeting with Marvel. But the big takeaway between Colter and Marvel Studios was that they felt as if performing alongside a different actor playing Iron Fist didn’t quite work.

While I have heard rumors of this, they were unsubstantiated. However Marvel Studios has recently started a casting call for two actors fitting Power Man and Iron Fist. After looking into this and discussing with my sources, I can confirm that Marvel is looking to re-cast these two in the MCU.

Any Indication Of People In The Running?

The casting call doesn’t reveal anything overly interesting for Power Man/Luke Cage. Although for Iron Fist, Marvel is looking to hire an Asian actor for the role. It’s said that Lewis Tan (Mortal Kombat, Deadpool 2) is the studio’s favored pick for the role; which is interesting as he played Zhou Cheng in the Iron Fist Netflix series.

So with that, Marvel is starting fresh. There will be some groundwork laid throughout the street level Disney+ Marvel shows and allusions to Heroes For Hire; but they’ll officially make their grand debut on their own show. The show is still in early development but will act similarly to a procedural, with a different job each week, with Luke Cage and Iron Fist taking on different villains. There will be an overarching plot, but mostly the stories will be independent.

While this may be disheartening to hear, this may be the breath of fresh air that the two characters need. It’ll also be interesting to see characters who are (mostly) driven by a pay check in the MCU compared to the more altruistic heroes we see in the MCU.
