Funimation officially reveals some details about the latest arc of My Hero Academia, season 5: “My Villain Academia”, and when it will be coming out. As the name suggests, this arc will feature the villains of the League of Villains as the main characters. Those of you who have read the manga will know what’s coming in the anime.

The “My Villain Academia” arc of My Hero Academia will premiere on Funimation on August 21, 2021. This will be a simulcast in Japanese audio with English subtitles. The English dub will come “just weeks after”. When that will be exactly is a story for another time. Hopefully, Funimation will provide that info soon. In the meantime, you can watch the previous episodes of this anime on Funimation here to catch up on the story. Or at least, attempt to. With the anime up to episode 103 as of this writing here in the US, you’ll have a lot of catching up to do if you’re watching from the very beginning.

My Hero Academia: The Villains Get Their Spotlight

The heroes have already gotten enough of the starring roles. Now it’s the other side’s turn.

So what exactly is the “My Villain Academia” arc about? Well, it’s basically all about developing the villains. Good heroes need good villains to fight against, after all. What better way to do that than to dedicate a whole arc to them, and hopefully, make us sympathize with them? Funimation does give a nice shot synopsis for this latest arc in My Hero Academia. It reads:

The League of Villains is dead broke and getting nowhere fast. All For One’s enormous bodyguard Gigantomachia arrives to pulverize them into shape. But before they’re back on their feet, the sinister Meta Liberation Army, led by Re-Destro, comes out of the woodwork to destroy the League and anyone who tries to regulate Quirks.

This multi-episode arc is dedicated to the bad guys, old and new, of My Hero Academia and will be an edge-of-your-seat thrill ride, including Himiko Toga in a bloody showdown and new insights into Tomura Shigaraki’s tortured past. What secrets will the League of Villains unlock within themselves as they clash against their greatest opponents yet?

Conclusion

My Hero Academia is about to debut the latest arc of their 5th season: “My Villain Academia”. This arc of this critically acclaimed superhero anime series (based on the manga of the same name) will feature the villains as the main characters.
