Hello everyone, your friendly neighborhood Professor Hulk here. I’m about to drop some knowledge on some exciting stuff going on in the film and TV world. Last week we shared with you details on Darkman. This week, we’re talking about Supergirl.

As many know, Warner Brothers is looking for characters from their DC films and spin them off in an HBO Max series. The studio is approaching their film slate with this strategy as a means to produce content that will drive HBO Max subscriptions in a way that won’t impede on theatrical revenue. We already have a Peacemaker series as well as a GCPD series on the way. A Penguin series was also recently announced. We’ve also shared news of an upcoming Red Hood film. So clearly Warner Bros is investing heavily in a duel release environment where particular films and series will debut exclusively on HBO Max.

I’ve discussed with my sources and can share that the latest character to receive this treatment is Sasha Calle’s Supergirl. The character is set to be introduced in next year’s The Flash. When we see her she’ll be well established as Supergirl and her past will be hinted at, including connections to established DC characters.

What We Know About The Supergirl Series

It was originally announced that there would be a Supergirl movie, from what I am hearing from my sources this was originally planned to be a movie released exclusively on HBO Max; but once the script was getting more significant work done, the writers realized that for the show to properly tell it’s story it needed a longer format and the movie became a show.

The show will explore her past and what makes her who she is. We’ll see her train and develop her powers. We’ll also get explanations as to how she ends up in the situation she’s in at the beginning of The Flash. Many will walk away from The Flash with questions regarding her character; the show is meant to answer those questions.

Casting wise we know that Sasha Calle will return; but there’s also a strong chance that Michael Keaton’s Bruce Wayne/Batman could appear. I don’t want to spoil for those who are wanting to avoid spoilers for The Flash movie; but the two characters will share a connection in The Flash and that will be explored more in the series. Although it is possible they could look for a younger actor for that role. Aside from that, it’s said that the show will bring in other characters related to her origin; although it’s been expressly stated that Superman will not appear in the series. Although other Kyptonians could appear.
