Movie fans would probably agree that it’s hard to be surprised by film marketing. You could probably count on your hands how many times the 2025 fall movies gave away way too much in their trailers; which is something that’s quite commonplace. Leave it to Steven Spielberg and Universal to shake things up in that regard, as their still untitled summer 2026 collaboration has started marketing, with a result that actually leaves us all wanting more.

Universal’s Untitled UFO Movie Dropped A Disturbing Teaser Image

A massive billboard has been spotted in New York (via DiscussingFilm), and it looks pretty harrowing. Don’t go thinking you’re about to see Emily Blunt or Josh O’Connor on this marketing lighting rod; unless the eye in this haunting close-up belongs to one of those two co-stars.

Ok folks, it’s time to put some tin foil hats on; and no this isn’t about whether birds exist or not. (Sorry, the overall “filter” in the shape of a bird made that joke too good to fly by.) While Steven Spielberg’s untitled picture still doesn’t have an official moniker, the art you see above does call back to one of the rumored titles. Throughout this year the titles Non-View and The Dish were floating around as potential names.

However, it’s the third one that should perk up your ears – Disclosure. That would admittedly  be a bit confusing for people who have a collection of both Michael Crichton adaptations and Spielberg movies. At this point, that option feels too easy. So I’d say the marketing folks split the difference, and repurposed that UFO term as part of the tagline; in which case it’s back to the drawing board. The good news is we might not have to wait too long to discover the truth.

Steven Spielberg’s Next Movie Could Debut Its Trailer With Avatar: Fire And Ash

Take this next bit with a flying saucer of salt folks, but we might be seeing the trailer for Steven Spielberg’s untitled project next week. Per a rumor floated by DanielRPK (via World of Reel), Avatar: Fire and Ash will give us our first look at this cryptic picture. The presence of this new teaser art seems to support that claim pretty favorably.

So Avengers: Doomsday’s upcoming first trailer could have competition for the most talked about tease. That possibility would be even greater if the ensemble thriller co-starring Colman Domingo and Colin Firth doesn’t drop a title. Universal could easily win the day by dropping the teaser without a title – a la Cloverfield’s marketing strategy from 2008.

With what we’ve seen so far, I’m actually kind of hoping that this is the case. It seems to have worked so far, as even Variety’s report from the scant footage shown contained no concrete clue of a title – or even the overarching threat.

I could honestly wait until much closer to next June to find out what the name of this untitled UFO movie truly is. I mean, what more do we need to know than Steven Spielberg may finally make another dark alien invasion picture? 20 years after the man gave us War of the Worlds, that should be enough for anyone. For now, all we truly can say is that this Spielberg enigma will be bowing, only in theaters, on June 12, 2026. So stay tuned to THS’ Movie News feed, as incoming updates will appear there – until we actually have an official title to tag this movie with.
