Danny Ramirez is a busy name in Hollywood these days. He’s played roles in the MCU and The Last Of Us, and now he’s taking on other projects. His role as Manny in The Last Of Us season 2 was a highlight of the series so far, but it looks like he’ll be recast. Nexus Point News has a report that Ramirez is being recast for the upcoming third season of the HBO series.

Casting is currently underway and it’s unknown who will play the character going forward. Ramirez’s commitments to the MCU going forward with his role as Joaquin Torres/Falcon are the reasons why he’s moving off the project. That conflict is a huge one, and obviously, this is a tough choice for him.

The Last of Us is based on the video game series of the same name developed by Naughty Dog and created by Neil Druckmann and Bruce Staley. The games follow survivors of a post-apocalyptic America that has been ravaged by fungal-infected zombies.

Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin developed the series and served as showrunners for seasons one and two. Mazin will take over as the sole showrunner in season three and will direct multiple episodes. The show released on HBO in 2023 and stars Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie. It dominated at the Emmy Awards, accumulating eight wins. The second season adapted the storyline from the second game and features Danny Ramirez, Kaitlyn Dever, Young Mazino, Isabela Merced, Spencer Lord, and Catherine O’Hara.

The third season will continue to adapt the second game and will feature Dever heavily as the star. it shoots next March and continues through November of 2026 in Vancouver.
