Ok Programs, it’s time to get serious. I’ve been hyping the Tron franchise for some time, and that’s not going to stop any time soon. That much is especially true after, despite my Tron: Ares review, the Jared Leto-starring picture didn’t do so hot at the box office. While I still have my reasons why Tron 3’s box office doesn’t matter, there’s one way it does – sequel prospects. Which is why I’m back to tell you all that the third entry in the ENCOM/Dillinger saga is heading to Disney+ real soon; and even you skeptics out there need to jump on board.

Tron: Ares’ Disney+ Debut Hits Just After Its Physical Media Release

As I previously shared, Tron: Ares’ physical release package is headed our way next Tuesday – January 6th. I sure hope you pre-ordered your Steelbooks; considering how quickly Tron/Tron: Legacy’s stellar 4K reissues flew off the shelves. But if you’re a streaming loyalist who wants to see the picture first on Disney+, you’ll be able to do so one day later (and with the option of its IMAX Enahnced variant), on January 7th.

Now there may be some of you out there that are skeptical about how streaming Ares could help the cause. To be fair, I still see that point, as the “success” of viewership stats are in the eye of the corporate beholder. However, as we’ve seen in the past, that sort of buzz could be just what Tron needs right about now.

Strong Streaming Numbers Could Keep The Tron Franchise Alive

Are you one of those people who have kicked themselves for over a decade about waiting until home video to see Tron: Legacy? If so, you’re also one of the many fans who ultimately kickstarted development on Tron: Ascension – which eventually morphed into the adventure that we have today. I wholeheartedly believe that same rationale can be applied to streaming, which is something that Disney has been experimenting with on both sides of the divide.

Whether it’s a legacy-quel series like The Santa Clauses, or the stellar looking theater bound The Mandalorian & Grogu, the Disney library has endured through experimentation. Should Tron: Ares prove to be popular, especially with more people experiencing those Tron 4 ending teases, then perhaps the demand to continue (or finish) the story will mount.

It certainly couldn’t hurt to try, could it! So if you’re ready to return to The Grid, for the first or fifth time, Tron: Ares will be on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD on January 6th; and on Disney+ the next day. Or if you don’t want to wait that long, it is also currently available for digital rental or purchase. -EndOfLine-
