Armorsaurs is currently airing on Disney XD and Disney NOW, with a Disney+ premiere waiting in the wings on February 18. That Hashtag Show was lucky enough to attend the show’s media junket and a presentation about the series. Series stars Jailen Bates, Jacob Makabi, Derrick Kwak, Avianna Mynhier, Sade Louise, and Andrew Russell introduced the show. Producer Kevin Yi and director David Feiss also dropped some insights. Let’s ‘Armor Up’ and talk about what we learned. The Armorsaurs toys launch in March!
Teamwork was the theme of the day for all of our Armorsaurs pilots and their mentor. Mynhier (Paloma in the show) talked about how getting to be on Disney+ was a dream come true. But, she was also looking forward to seeing parents and younger audiences sharing the experience of streaming Season 1.

“I grew up on Disney. I watched all the shows, all the movies, all the originals. So it’s a bloody honor. It’s an honor to be on this platform,” Mynhier said. “I think the platform has pulled so much high quality content that it’s like we’re in such good company that I just feel grateful for the show, what do I hope they take away? I hope adults and children take away this childlike sense of awe.”
She added, “There’s actually a lot of heart in the show, and yes, there’s action and dinosaurs and excitement, but there’s this sincerity to the show as well. So I hope adults and children can both access all of that and watch together.”
Armorsaurs builds on a Tokusatsu foundation

We got the chance to speak to the stars in a grouped setting. Producer Kevin Yi talked about watching the new episodes of Armorsaurs with his family. His wife (who works on the show) and kids got to travel to Korea during production with the whole team. It’s a proud piece of the show’s identity. But, at it’s heart Armorsaurs is a global show. Disney+’s launch is global, and you can feel the collaboration from different corners to make the strongest effort possible.
“If I’m perfectly honest, I’m a Korean American and I grew up watching shows like this. And so, but being in Korea was actually sort of a full circle moment,” Yi told us. “I know for you guys, you guys were doing karaoke and doing all of those incredible things, but for me it really felt like a homecoming. I was born as an American, but my ethnic origins are in Korea. So, my wife and I were working on the show and we were able to bring our kids out with us.”
Finding a Global Identity

“Watching their experience, it was very, very healing for me just from an identity standpoint. I think there’s something about the show that’s really special. Being able to root that in Korea, and having the production out there, and having the origins out there, it’s just been super, super meaningful,” he observed. “The fact that everybody here had such an incredible experience in Korea, and the fact that it was so fun to do all of those things out there, it’s super meaningful to me. I’m still riding that wave of being involved in a production that was done in Korea. But, it is a global production.
“It’s just super exciting to think of it in that sense. Right now, there’s a whole ‘K’ culture and whole ‘K’ wave that’s going on. I’m just super grateful that we’re in a place where I don’t have to hide the food that I’m eating. But people are actively asking questions, what did you guys eat while you were out there? That is absolutely incredible,” Yi concluded.
Armorsaurs is streaming on Disney+ on February 18. You can catch it on DisneyXD and DisneyNow as well!
