Going into Super Bowl LX, we had an idea of what TV spots were expected to show up. Already, we’ve seen the Disclosure Day big game spot, as well as an ad for The Mandalorian and Grogu, seemingly influenced by those Budweiser Clydesdales commercials. However, someone new crashed the party, thanks to The Adventures of Cliff Booth’s playfully censored teaser.

Leave it to Brad Pitt and David Fincher’s latest reteaming to give us a hysterically slick look at the upcoming Netflix sequel to Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood. (And a special thanks to the folks at JoBlo for uploading the footage, which hasn’t officially appeared on the internet just yet.)

Rocking to a far-out cover of the Peter Gunn theme, we see Pitt’s Cliff Booth getting into trouble once again. Of course, seeing as this is broadcast TV, and The Adventures of Cliff Booth will definitely be R-rated, we’re not allowed to see “the good stuff.” Which, of course, led to some fun censorship.

Cliff Booth’s Censored Adventures Are Truly Buzzworthy

It almost feels like a nod to Fight Club to see Brad Pitt’s retro-cool hero being semi-obscured by film scratches. Many elements of the frame are scratched out, hiding everything from joints to nudity from Super Bowl LX audiences. Which is fair, because Netflix probably wouldn’t want to cover the FCC fines that’d be incurred.

Showing off our first looks at co-stars Elizabeth Debicki, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Timothy Olyphant, The Adventures of Cliff Booth’s sneaky reel of fun teases what looks like a detective story. Only this time, our would-be gumshoe is Rick Dalton’s favorite fictional stuntman wandering through the seedy underworld of ’70s L.A.

Those of you who’ve always wanted to see a sequel to The Nice Guys are probably crying tears of joy and anger, as this is the closest thing we’ll ever see to a follow-up. Of course, you may also be shedding tears as we still don’t know when we’ll see this flick debut. For now, all we know is that The Adventures of Cliff Booth will probably debut in limited theatrical release in 2026; before eventually streaming on Netflix.
