Lionsgate and Saber Interactive just made it official. John Wick is getting the full AAA video game treatment and it is not some half-measure spin-off. Revealed during Sony’s State of Play Showcase. They are developing an untitled single player third person action game. The game is set for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC. This one is aiming straight at mature audiences and it is not pulling its punches.
Step Into the Shoes of the Baba Yaga
The new game promises to drop players directly into John Wick’s world. With the kind of hard hitting gun fu combat that made the films iconic. Saber Interactive is building the experience around fast, brutal action, cinematic presentation, and intense driving sequences designed to make you feel like you are inside one of the movies.
This is not some loose adaptation. Franchise director Chad Stahelski and star Keanu Reeves are actively producing the project. With Reeves reprising the look and voice of Wick. That kind of involvement matters. Fans are not getting a generic action clone. They are getting a game shaped by the very people who defined the character.
An Original Story Inside the John Wick Timeline
The game tells an original story set years before the Impossible Task. Expanding the timeline with new lore and familiar faces from the franchise. Players will explore the deeper structure of The High Table while encountering both returning characters and brand new ones created specifically for the game.
Saber Interactive calls the design fully authentic to the Wick formula, and they are not hedging. Expect tight gun fu systems, stylized camerawork, layered environments, and cinematic storytelling that embraces the gritty elegance the series built its name on. If you have ever wanted to step into the shoes of the Baba Yaga instead of sitting back and watching him, this is your shot.
A Franchise That Keeps Expanding
The John Wick franchise has already crossed the billion dollar mark worldwide across four films. The universe has expanded into television with The Continental and will continue growing with the upcoming Ballerina film starring Ana de Armas, along with additional projects currently in development. Moving into AAA gaming feels like the natural next step.
Saber Interactive brings serious action credentials to the table. The studio recently delivered Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2, which moved millions of units and earned major award nominations. They have built their reputation on delivering weighty, kinetic combat systems, and that is exactly what a John Wick game demands.
Wishlist and What Comes Next
The untitled John Wick game is currently in development and will be available to wishlist on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC. No release date has been announced yet, but the reveal trailer makes it clear that this is not a small scale side project. Lionsgate and Saber are swinging big.
If the final product delivers on even half of what is being promised, this could easily become the definitive John Wick experience outside the films. Fans have waited a long time for a proper AAA adaptation. Now it is finally happening.
