Armorsaurs is airing tomorrow on Disney+. The show is already stomping through Disney XD and Disney NOW. Disney+ should be excited for the premiere on February 18. That Hashtag Show got to talk to the creative team and the actors during a special media junket and presentation. We sat down with stars Jailen Bates, Jacob Makabi, Derrick Kwak, Avianna Mynhier, Sade Louise, and Andrew Russell. Producer Kevin Yi and director David Feiss talked legacy and Tokusatsu shows with us too. Time to ‘Armor Up’ and break down everything we saw.
Each of our Armorsaurs pilots is at their own place in their acting journey. Makabi (TJ in the show) talked about his largest role of his career being on Disney+. Jumping right into a state of the art blue screen environment? That seems daunting, but his teammates helped show him the way during Season 1.

“So stepping into a virtual production for the first time, I was overwhelmed at first, but I saw all the actors. Watching you [motioning to the panel], especially Jalen & Aviana,” Makabi shared. “I learned so much from ’em on set and just made the process so much more comfortable. So, pretty much the same as TJ. He’s navigating where he finds himself within the group and I was doing the same myself.”
He added, “Lots of elements of teamwork. I think finding it within the cast, we all found that we bonded together literally. And we had this element of teamwork throughout.”
Armorsaurs builds on a Tokusatsu foundation

It’s no secret that producer Kevin Yi was thinking about the legacy of armored heroes when making Armorsaurs. Talking about the show’s identity, he mentioned that the generational aspect of fandom is key for Armorsaurs. Disney+ gives the team another outlet to reach fans young and old.
“The keyword that you talk about is generational. I’m the generation that was watching all the Tokusatsu shows. I can’t wait for more of my peers and other families to sit together. For dads to be able to reminisce and say ‘Oh, this is just like this show that I used to watch! You have this thing?’”
“It’s just like introducing music to kids. There’s something about the 90s music that I grew up with. I love the idea that kids nowadays are listening to some of this music.Like, ‘You know this music?’ ‘Of course, I feel cooler than you!’” he laughed. “You know those conversations? I think that’s such a beautiful thing.”
What’s coming in Season 2?
Then we had to tease what’s to come in Season 2. Armorsaurs is getting more season on Disney+. Yi smirked, “Without giving anything away, I can say that we are going to be continuing the growth of each of these pilots. We’re going to see them continue to grow and mature. We’re also going to see the bond with their dinosaurs and sort of how they stretch and grow and how they develop as well.”
“We’ve got new places for them to go and new environments. There’s new threats after the events of season one, which I won’t spoil either. We’ve still got two episodes left to go on Disney XD. The fallout of the events of Season 1 and how that affects the whole world… So that’s about all I can say before I get hit with an arrow or something,” he joked.” Yi concluded.
Armorsaurs is streaming on Disney+ on February 18. You can catch it on DisneyXD and DisneyNow as well!
