Pixar is one of those studios that manages to bring hit after hit consistently. Its newest release, Daniel Chong’s Hoppers, seems to be no different. First reactions have begun coming in, and audiences are praising the film for its heart, more adult themes, and more.

“[T]he incredibly sad, moving, & chilling moments are what truly elevate it. It’s undoubtedly one of Pixar’s best in ages. A return to form for the studio & another win for @Disney,” said filmsbyJuan on X.

Hoppers follows an animal-loving teenager named Mabel Tanaka (Piper Curda). After a group of scientists invent a way to “hop” human minds into lifelike robotic animal bodies, she uses their technology to embody a robotic beaver and thwart a construction company’s plot to destroy the local animal habitat, unwittingly starting an animal uprising against all humans.

The cast also includes Bobby Moynihan, Dave Franco, Jon Hamm, and Kathy Najimy.

Pixar always has some high standards when it comes to new films. They’ve given us our childhood staples like Toy Story and Monsters, Inc. And to see them grow with us and be willing to continue to tackle more adult stories is wonderful. Hoppers is also the kind of story we need in our current climate, where regulations to protect the environment and our animals is constantly under attack.

It appears that this will be not just a fun family film to see in theaters, but also an opportunity to explain the importance of conservation to young minds. Many of us grew up on films with similar messages, and now it is more important than ever to have these discussions.

Said MamasGeeky: “If we all work together & respect one another, we can accomplish so much more. This movie gives me hope (& a renewed love of nature!!)”

Hoppers hits theaters on March 6. In the meantime, let’s check out some first reactions below.
