Jennifer’s Body brought teenage horror to the forefront with some truly terrible marketing surrounded by the allure of Megan Fox to teenage boys. The film followed up Diablo Cody’s Oscar-winning script with Juno. Megan Fox starred as a high school cheerleader who becomes a succubus and the fallout with her friend Needy (played by Amanda Seyfried). The film became a cult classic almost instantaneously and is now one of the best high school horror films out there.

It opened in theaters on September 18th, 2009 and went on to earn $16.2 million at the domestic box office. Part of that was driven by the fact that the movie was marketed as a teenage boy’s wet dream with Megan Fox, instead of the dark story of relationships that happen in high school between friends.

We’ve learned that Diablo Cody is currently writing a Jennifer’s Body 2 and that both Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried are interested in returning to their roles. She revealed the news to a panel hosted by our friend Joe Russo in Los Angeles. The Storytelling 360 screenwriting panel featured Diablo, Nia Vardalos, Cord Jefferson, Graham Moore, and the writers of KPop Demon Hunters.

With Amanda Seyfried in a career renaissance and Megan Fox currently in the cultural zeitgeist, there’s no better time for a sequel to the cult classic film.

We’ll keep you updated on this story as it develops.
