I Love Boosters just got a brand new trailer for the Boots Riley extravaganza. On May 22nd, fans can pile in for a star studded affair. Names like Keke Palmer, Naomi Ackie, Taylour Paige, Poppy Liu, Eiza González, LaKeith Stanfield, and Will Poulter are all here. And, there’s some amazing talent with Don Cheadle and Demi Moore too. Previously, Riley was trying to make sure fans help spread the word about I Love Boosters. The director said on social media, “If you like this trailer- I need your help on this. Not just retweeting and reposting, I need you to- seriously- text and email this to people. If you haven’t talked to someone in a while. Use this as your excuse. The general premise of I Love Boosters rests with Palmer leading a band of merry “boosters” on their quest to reclaim style from interlopers. Our friend Lyvie Scott over at Inverse thought that the style of this movie more than made up for any frayed seams.

“Fortunately, Riley is keen to show and tell: He’s not the director you go to for subtlety, a point that should be obvious by now but remains a baffling critique,” Scott argued. “This is a director who projects a character’s backstory like a film across their exposed forehead; who skewers racial self-esteem with brazenly transgressive gags. Why should his call to arms be subtle? Why should his dystopia mince words?”
