28 Years Later: The Bone Temple – In theaters this weekend
Nia DaCosta, take a bow. The Marvels director has a fan-favorite on her hands with 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple. Taking off from Danny Boyle’s tale, DaCosta deftly interrogates power in this bleak world. ((But, not the engrossing ending that confused so many American viewers.) Yes, there are Zombies all over for people who are here for the miserable action the genre is so inclined to enforce. But, the throttle goes up and down without ever letting the audience leave the edge of their seat.
Night Patrol – In theaters this weekend

Regulators, mount up! Justin Long is an LAPD officer in way over his head in this horror thriller. The city has a gang problem that is much more complex than it looks on the surface. To say any more would be to give the game away. Jermaine Fowler, RJ Cyler, Dermot Mulroney and CM Punk are all hoots in this Shudder film. If you’ve been interested in creatures of the night, this will please you!
All You Need Is Kill – In theaters this weekend.
An animated mind-bender directed by Kenichiro Akimoto. Rita (Ai Mikami) is a young woman on a mission to rebuild Japan after aliens wreak havoc. From there, we get the anime origins of Live Die Repeat! (Edge of Tomorrow was adapted from this story.) The trope’s land and the animation is stunning. If any of that sounds like your jam, go ahead and find a theater playing All You Need Is Kill.
Star Trek: Starfleet Academy – Streaming on Paramount+
This ones been a long time coming, and it’s worth the wait. Starfleet Academy sees Cadet Life in an entirely different light. As big fans of below decks, we’re proud to report that the new Star Trek spinoff is absolutely delightful. We feel compelled to mention that Becky Lynch is amazing in this new show. And it’s not just us saying it!
The Rip – Streaming on Netflix
Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are back together, and it feels so good. Netflix’s The Rip sees the two embroiled in police drama about what happens to evidence and possessions when cops cannot be trusted. There is a ton of talent on display in this one. If you’re a fan of this pairing, go ahead and check it out. miami is the perfect backdrop for this kind of story!
Game of Thrones: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms – Streaming on HBO Max
HBO had such a good go of it with House of the Dragon, that they’re going all in on spinoffs now. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms follows another era in the series timeline, separate from both Game of Thrones proper and its beloved prequel series. The barometer here really is: do you like Game of Thrones? The brutality, the political maneuvering, the unabashed adult nature of the storytelling? Get ready for A Knight’s tale through the lens of this franchise.
