I suspect most readers here will not have heard of To You in the Beyond. To be honest, this is the first I’ve heard of it as well. This is apparently the anime film adaptation of the hit Japanese coming-of-age novel by Akiko Abe. This particular author actually won the 22nd Japan Booksellers’ Award (Honya Taisho) with her novel Cafuné (カフネ), so we know this one is going to be good. In fact, it’s good enough that it received a manga adaptation with Haruka Chino as the artist, and now, it’s going to get an anime film adaptation on top of that.
Pony Canyon is proud to announce the anime film adaptation of To You in the Beyond with a brand new teaser trailer. The teaser also reveals that this anime film will make its debut in its home nation of Japan on October 9, 2026. As for that teaser, though? You can watch it either on YouTube, or just look below:
To You in the Beyond Premiering in Japan on October 9, 2026; International Release TBA

Honestly, the teaser for To You in the Beyond makes the story even more mysterious than it already was. It seems to be a coming of age and romance(?) story involving a boy finding a girl washed up on a beach. Beyond that, the teaser was a bit too convoluted and bizarre to make much else out of it. I suppose we’ll find out what it’s about when it makes its theatrical debut. Alas, there’s no news about an international release yet. We’ll just have to hear back from Pony Canyon or whichever company licenses this anime film later.
