Alice in Wonderland is getting a special release for its 75th anniversary. The 4K film restoration comes from the Walt Disney Film Restoration team on Digital, 4K Ultra HD, and Blu-ray on May 5. Over the course of nine months, their team of artists digitally scanned the original negatives of Alice in Wonderland. Now, we can all enjoy the beautiful work showcased in this beloved feature film. Walt Disney Studios veteran Michael Giamo was in the chair to review the work and approve it’s color and luminance.
“The original animation artists’ work on Alice in Wonderland is stunning, and we’re proud to present it with renewed clarity and vibrancy,” Kevin Schaeffer, Director of Restoration & Library Management said in a release. “This milestone restoration brings new depth and dimension to the film’s imaginative world, offering a vibrant presentation for longtime fans and a new generation of audiences alike.”

Attendees of the TCM Classic Film Festival on May 1st will be present for a special one night premiere. Then, home can dive into the impressive collection of bonus features on the Blu-ray and digital releases. There’s Behind the Scenes features, archive material, reference footage and more.
Alice herself, Kwathryn Beaumont appears. There’s a number of shorts including “Thru the Mirror featuring Mickey Mouse.” Check out the music videos for “Beware the Jabberwock” and “If You’ll Believe in Me” too.
Disney gives us a synopsis for the fan favorite. “Join Alice as she chases the White Rabbit into a topsy-turvy world. It gets “curiouser and curiouser” as her fantastical adventures unfold. Meet the Mad Hatter, March Hare, Tweedledee & Tweedledum, the Cheshire Cat, the Queen of Hearts and more unforgettable characters, all set against a backdrop of awe-inspiring splendor.
