The Mike Flanagan-led reboot/reimagining of The Exorcist has been in overdrive when it comes to casting, lately. Now according to Deadline, they’re adding another rising star in Hollywood with Sasha Calle. She’s fresh off the Netflix film The Rip and now she’s signed on for a role in this upcoming horror movie. The Exorcist releases in theaters on Friday, March 12th, 2027.
As for what role she’s playing, that is under wraps for now. The plot of the film is also under wraps but we do know that its being written and directed by Mike Flanagan and shooting in New York City. The film will tell a new story set in the same universe as the original The Exorcist and is not a sequel to The Exorcist: Believer. That film was supposed to kick off its own trilogy of films from David Gordon Green and Danny McBride, but it was a commercial and critical disappointment for Universal at the time.
Sasha Calle joins Scarlett Johansson, Jacobi Jupe, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Laurence Fishburne, and Diane Lane as previously announced cast members.
Mike Flanagan is also producing the film with his company Red Room Pictures, alongside David Robinson for Morgan Creek Entertainment and Jason Blum for Blumhouse-Atomic Monster. Exec producers include Alexandra Magistro for Red Room Pictures and Ryan Turek for Blumhouse-Atomic Monster.
Who Is Sasha Calle?

Sasha Calle made her feature film debut in The Flash, becoming the first Latina actress to portray Supergirl in a major studio film. She recently starred in The Rip on Netflix alongside Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, which has spent three weeks at #1 on their English-language film list. Calle also has starred in On Swift Horses alongside Daisy Edgar-Jones, Jacob Elordi, Will Poulter, and Diego Calva. She can be seen alongside Colin Farrell in season two of Sugar on AppleTV.
