Our wait is over! Back at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con, we sat down with Dafne Keen and Sophie Nélisse to chat about their upcoming horror flick, Whistle.
The film follows a misfit group of unwitting high school students who stumble upon a cursed object, an ancient Aztec Death Whistle. They discover that blowing the whistle and the terrifying sound it emits will summon their future deaths to hunt them down. As the body count rises, the friends investigate the origins of the deadly artifact in a desperate effort to stop the horrifying chain of events that they have set in motion.
Now it’s finally time to get a closer look at this one, since IFC just dropped the official trailer. Check it out below!
“I think when we find Chris, she’s in a very dark place in her life,” Keen told THS of her character. “She’s just lost her father, and she’s a recovering addict. She’s moved to this little town to try to start anew. And she finds love amidst the context of the horror that is ‘Whistle.’ But it’s a very special romantic love story at heart, to me.”
“I think they bring out the best in each other,” Nélisse added. “Ellie’s just so set on her future, and meeting Chris really pushes her out of her comfort zone.”
Whistle comes from writer Owen Egerton and director Corin Hardy. In addition to Keen and Nélisse, it also stars Sky Yang, Jhaleil Swaby, Ali Skovbye, Percy Hynes White, Michelle Fairley, and Nick Frost.
Whistle premieres in theaters February 6.
Meanwhile, check back to THS for more news about the latest in horror.
