The Super Bowl means the return of the fan-favorite Puppy Bowl XXII. This is the longest running call-to-adoption television event now it its 22nd year. It will air Sunday, February 8, at 2:00PM ET/11:00AM PT and will simulcast across Animal Planet, Discovery, TBS, truTV, HBO Max and discovery+.

This year’s Puppy Bowl will feature a record-breaking 150 dogs from 72 shelters across the U.S., Puerto Rico, and the British Virgin Islands. Throughout the broadcast you’ll hear heatwarming adoption stories and show-stopping pup matchups.

A CHAT WITH THE VETERAN “RUFFEREE”

At the Puppy Bowl, Referee Dan Schachner is returning to oversee the action for his 15th year. He will be ensuring that the furry athletes compete fairly for championship glory while they await their forever home.

I spoke with Schachner about why he keeps coming back to the Puppy Bowl. He shares with us some of this favorite furry competitors this year, and what is new for the event. ABOUT “PUPPY BOWL XXII”

The show starts with Schachner rounding up players at the MARRIOTT BONVOY Puppy Bowl Hotel. Then, the action begins at PROGRESSIVE® Stadium. There the PEDIGREE® Starting Lineup sprint through the spirit tunnel to take the field. Team Fluff will take on Team Ruff for the coveted WALMART “Lombarky” trophy.

For the first time ever, Puppy Bowl will spotlight senior dogs in a special exhibition game. Team Oldies and Team Goldies go head-to-head in the all-new Pro-Dog Halftime Showdown. Additional new elements include an inside look at shelter staff cheering on their puppy players and a spirited Barking Lot Tailgate party hosted by RAISING CANE’S CHICKEN FINGERS. With special appearances by Todd Graves, Owner and Founder, and his dog Cane III.
