I’m just going to throw this out there: I have been categorically against Disney’s live-action remake of Tangled. Blame it on bias, lingering cars from 2019’s Aladdin, or just plain old contrarianism – I just haven’t been able to get excited. At least, that was the case until today’s announcement of Scarlet Johansson’s Mother Gothel replacement; which has revealed a choice that’s convinced me mother truly does know best.
Courtesy of a stealth announcement on Walt Disney Studios’ social media channels, the rumors of Kathryn Hahn landing the role have now come true. This is the sort of news that calls for more than just a polite press release; and the Step Brothers star delivered – as you can see below:
OK, if that shirt isn’t eventually available through the Disney Store, I’m going to be a bit disappointed. Which is the exact opposite of my reaction to this absolutely perfect Tangled live-action news! I’m sure fans of Agatha All Along would agree with that assessment, as that Marvel Cinematic Universe chapter was probably what landed Ms. Hahn the role. That is, unless playing a cunning sorceress who has singing abilities is somehow not what director Michael Gracey is looking for.
Tangled Has Its Main Cast…But No Release Date
This news comes not too long after Tangled’s Rapunzel and Flynn casting saw Titans’ Teagan Croft and Thanksgiving’s Milo Manheim landing those respective roles. With the cast in play, and writer Jennifer Kaytin Robinson handling the script, all the key players to revamp this 2010 Disney animated masterpiece seem to be in play.
At the moment, Tangled doesn’t have a production or release date – but it does have a dream! However, that shouldn’t stop you from checking out THS’ Movie News archives – the one spot where could find your new dream…or the latest and greatest in all things pop culture. Those are the same thing, right?
