Hokum has a haunting teaser trailer out. Adam Scott stars in this creepy feature from NEON. Damien McCarthy directs Hokum and his tale of a writer encountering the paranormal at an Irish inn. A haunted hotel might seem like old hat. But, this new movie is unnerving in the extreme.

The Overlook Film Festival will show off this movie as a part of their program. Michael Lerman, co-founder and director of film programming of the Overlook Film Festival talked to Variety.

“It somehow seems appropriate that our tenth year features a plethora of nerve rattling tales, many of which touch upon the theme of identity,” Lerman told the press. “This program is an equal mix of returning beloved filmmakers and staggeringly talented new voices, showcasing the heart of what we ourselves identify as – an ever-growing community with a shared love of being terrified.”

Hokum is legit spooky

NEON knows that folks want to know what’s going on: “When reclusive novelist Ohm Bauman (Scott) retreats to a remote Irish inn to scatter his parents’ ashes, the staff’s tales of an ancient witch haunting the honeymoon suite take hold of his mind. Soon, disturbing visions and a shocking disappearance draw him into a nightmarish confrontation with the darkest corners of his past.”

Hokum is ready to rattle your bones on May 1.
