As the world still rifles through the potential clues left in the first volume of Stranger Things 5, the final two innings in this ballgame draw ever closer. Movie theaters are preparing for an influx of patrons for New Years Eve’s big series finale event, while Netflix is now promoting what to expect in Christmas’ release of Volume 2.

After seeing the trailer for the next three feature-length installments, there are a couple of angles I think we should be watching for as we dive further into Netflix’s last trip into the Upside Down.

Steve Harrington And Vickie Dunne Are Probably Going To Die

Unless there’s some sort of deus ex machina or one hell of a saving throw, Joe Keery’s beloved babysitter is probably going to draw his last breath. Funny enough, people were predicting this on social media not too long after the latest Stranger Things season premiered.  The big difference was, of course, that people had Steve pegged as sacrificing himself to save his ex-girlfriend/current badass Nancy Wheeler (Natalia Dyer).

Meanwhile, that quick shot of candy striper Vickie Dunne (Amybeth McNulty) in a hospital terrorized by a Demogorgon doesn’t bode well either. I wouldn’t mind if my danger senses are off here, as I want nothing but happiness for “Rockin’” Robin Buckley (Maya Hawke). At the same time, this is the final season in Hawkins, Indiana; and no one’s truly safe.

I Think I Know Chapter 7’s Cliffhanger, And It’s Not Good

If we’re going to talk about the final season of Stranger Things, we need to talk about the late-game big bad Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower). Now we already know he’s trying to form a child army, in the name of “reshaping” our world from the Upside Down. However, those shots of what looks like an energy burst on both sides of the multiverse divide seem to spell one thing.

I think the penultimate episode of this grand finale will see Henry Creel creating a sustainable doorway between our world and his – allowing a massive incursion into our reality. Knowing that Stranger Things 5 episode titles have this chapter named “Chapter Seven: The Bridge” supports my theory. Which, naturally, leaves the series finale “Chapter Eight: The Rightside Up” to be 2 hours and 5 minutes of pure action and send offs.  (A surprisingly shorter length than Stranger Things 4: Part II’s 2 hour, 20 minute finale.)

Linnea Berthelsen looks forward somberly in Stranger Things 5, Vol 2.

`How do I think this is going to transpire? Sadly, I think Kali (Linnea Berthelsen), the fellow test subject Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) palled around within Season 2’s “The Lost Sister,” will be overtaken to wedge this quantum door open. To be fair, we really don’t know why Stranger Things’ prodigal daughter has returned; but looking back on her brief appearance in “Chapter 4: Sorcerer,” I’m willing to stand by this hypothesis.

We won’t have to wait too much longer to find out where everything is headed, as Stranger Things 5, Vol 2. drops at 8 PM EST on Christmas Night – only on Netflix.
