When you think the modern holiday horror film, “Silent Night, Deadly Night” fits right there with some of the other recent December-time slashers that are becoming more and more common. But when the original film was released in 1984, it caused an uproar as people didn’t like that Santa Claus was being portrayed as a killer. Fast-forward 41 years later, Mike P. Nelson’s version is being praised by the growing number for horror fans.

THE MUSIC BEHIND ‘SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT’

With the release of “Silent Night, Deadly Night” I spoke with composer Martin Macphail. He is one third of the award-winning composer trio Blitz//Berlin. In my conversation Macphail, he shared with me how they were able to work around some music they weren’t able to use and create new sounds that created similar vibes. We also talk about the music behind some of specific scenes that fans of the franchise will enjoy. Finally he tells me about working with a team on Blitz//Berlin and how they have been able to be so successful. Its a great conversation that you can check out below!
