If you were to mention the title The Dark Knight Returns to even the most casual of comic fans, you could practically predict the result. Frank Miller’s legendary saga is still considered a watershed title, with 2026 celebrating the 40th anniversary of a retired Bruce Wayne returning to kick some dystopian ass. Another contributor from that very work is about to be honored through a special exhibition in New York City; through the Klaus Janson Exhibition.

Per a press release from the Philippe Labaune Gallery, this event will kick off with a March 5th reception event. After which, the Klaus Janson Exhibition will be on public display – from March 6th to April 11th.  Highlighting Janson’s place as “one of the most important and influential comic artists of the 20th and 21st centuries,” here’s how the collection’s contents are described in the official copy:

Featuring over 100 pieces of stunning artwork including collaborations with Janson’s fellow comic legends Frank Miller, John Romita Jr., John and Sal Buscema, Dick Giordano, Bill Sienkiewicz, Gil Kane, and Gene Colan, and more, the exhibit at the Philippe Labaune Gallery is a beautiful survey of the artist’s groundbreaking career.

Patrons will be able to observe select pieces of Klaus Janson’s art from the worlds of Daredevil, Superman, and Sin City. You’ll also be among like-minded fans at the New York based gallery; seeing as the Philippe Labaune Gallery is specifically focused on fine comic art. Which means you’ll be able to collectively discuss some all time stunners, like this image from Sin City:

Janson’s style meshes perfectly with the pulpy aesthetic of the projects you’ll be able to partake in during the Klaus Janson Exhibition. It’s a reality that definitely explains how he’s worked so well with Frank Miller, over the course of projects that run the gamut of the comic kingdom. Providing his own statement on the Klaus Janson Exhibition, gallery owner Philippe Labaune shared these remarks on what fans should expect:

Through this survey, Klaus Janson emerges as a singular figure whose adaptability, sensitivity, and understanding have permanently expanded what comics can achieve. His ability to work as a penciler, inker, colorist, writer, and teacher demonstrates the depth and range of his contributions to the medium and underscores why this exhibition is so significant. The exhibition celebrates a life in comics, offering a rare and considered perspective on the medium, and honoring an artist whose work has defined the visual and emotional language of American comics for generations.

Comic fans of a certain era should be excited to dive deeper into the works of this prolific artist. Which is why you should keep in mind that The Klaus Janson Exhibition opens to the public on March 6th, and will be on display through April 11th.
