Oo-de-lally, oo-de-lally, golly, what a trailer. Our first look at The Death of Robin Hood, the latest gritty thriller from A24, has arrived, and it’s immediately clear this is not the Robin Hood audiences are accustomed to. There are no cartoon foxes, no Bryan Adams power ballads, and certainly no men in tights. Instead, the film places us at the end of Robin’s life, forcing a reckoning with the legacy of his deeds as an outlaw. The trailer repeatedly challenges the familiar myth, insisting that Robin was no hero at all, but a murderous criminal whose legend outgrew the truth. This all sets up an intriguing question: is the film truly dismantling his folk hero archetype, or merely reframing it, exploring the moral gray area of doing bad things for what one believes are good reasons? Written and directed by Michael Sarnoski (Pig), The Death of Robin Hood stars Hugh Jackman, Jodie Comer, and Bill Skarsgård. While no official release date has been announced, it will arrive sometime in 2026.
