One of the things that’s always separated Jack Ryan from the rest of the fictional spy community is that he has a good reason for not wanting to go into action. Yet despite constantly proclaiming “I’m just an analyst,” trouble always seems to find a way to rope him into international intrigue. We see as much in the first teaser for Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War, as the long-awaited continuation of Prime Video’s streaming hit.
For a reluctant spy, Mr. Ryan sure does know his way around an active threat. This early trailer released by Amazon-MGM Studios and Paramount is short but lethal, teasing Ghost War’s mission set to debut on May 20th. As far as the tale behind these latest acts of terror, here’s what the official synopsis has to say:
In this new film, Jack Ryan is reluctantly thrust back into the world of espionage when an international covert mission unravels a deadly conspiracy, forcing him to confront a rogue black-ops unit, and the clock is ticking. Operating in real time with lives on the line and the threat escalating at every turn, Jack reunites with battle-tested CIA operative Mike November, and former CIA boss James Greer, their combined experience the only edge they have against an enemy who knows their every move. Backed by an unlikely new partner – razor-sharp MI6 officer Emma Marlowe – Jack and the team navigate a treacherous web of betrayal, facing a past they thought was long put to rest – making this the most personal, high-stakes mission any of them have ever faced.
Returning for Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War are Michael Kelly and Wendell Pierce, in their respective roles as Mike November and James Greer. Honestly, it’d feel super weird not to see them coming back to play; ditto for Betty Gabriel’s now CIA director Elizabeth Wright. However, as you read above, there’s a new player on the board – and she has me dreaming of a Clancyverse project that’s still hiding in the shadows.

I Really Want Sienna Miller’s New Character To Be The Key To Rainbow Six
Previously, the Clancyverse has introduced John Clark (Michael B. Jordan) through the film adaptation of Without Remorse, as well as Domingo “Ding” Chavez (Michael Pena) in the final season of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan. As Ghost War introduces Ms. Emma Marlowe, played by Horizon: An American Saga’s Sienna Miller, we could theoretically have half of a potential Rainbow Six team nailed into formation.
While that specific spin-off has suffered some setbacks in recent years, that particular casting once again stokes the fires in my Clancyverse-loving heart for the long-beleaguered Rainbow Six adaptation. However, that’s a subject we can talk about another time; as there’s quite a bit of red tape to cut through.
For now, it’s just nice to see John Krasinski trying to avoid trouble – only to slip back into Operator mode – once again. Let’s face it, the only thing that’ll stop this man from doing his duty is becoming president. And depending on how this saga intends to adapt Tom Clancy’s true-blue Boy Scout, that might not be too far off.
Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War moves out, exclusively on Prime Video, starting May 20th. Which leaves you plenty of time to rewatch (or introduce yourself) to Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan – as all four seasons are currently streaming on Prime Video.
