With the Hollywood Rip RockIt now gone from Universal Studios Florida, rumors for its replacement have run the gamut from a Wicked ride to something Ghostbusters themed. However, after the company revved fans up about one particular candidate. It has been confirmed that Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift will be pulling into Universal Studios Florida’s garage. The timing couldn’t be more perfect either, as this apparently has opened the door for another, more maligned experience, to drive into the sunset.

Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift Is Officially Replacing Hollywood Rip Rockit
Universal Studios Hollywood patrons aren’t the only ones who’ll get to experience Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift’s high speed thrills in the near future. Though the Hollywood version is still on track to open this year, Universal Orlando’s variant is currently on the books for a TBD 2027 opening day. For those unfamiliar with the concept, here’s the official description from Universal Orlando Resort’s press release:
Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift will put guests in the driver seat of the high-speed thrills of Universal Pictures’ Fast & Furious universe like never before. Riders will experience the exhilarating sensation of 360-degree drifting as they speed through jaw-dropping maneuvers – including a 170-foot vertical “spike” that will send riders nearly 17 stories in the air over the outskirts of Universal CityWalk.
Whether the spatial limitations of Universal Studios Florida will alter the Florida version of Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift remains to be seen. But even in the absence of those details, another huge Universal Orlando change has been confirmed – and it’s one a lot of folks are going to be pleased with.

R.I.P. Fast & Furious – Supercharged – 2018 – 2027
Everybody hates to lose their favorite ride to progress. Many roller coasters or thrilling attractions have made way for the future, leaving tons of memories in the process. I don’t think Fast & Furious – Supercharged is one such ride – as it’s been a frequent punching bag for Universal Parks loyalist over the years.
Well, you won’t have Supercharged to kick around for much longer. Thanks to that very same press release, Universal Orlando Resort also made the following announcement:
As Universal Studios Florida makes way for this exciting new experience, Fast & Furious – Supercharged will permanently close in 2027.
Did you hear that? That’s the sound of Universal Parks fans pumping their fists, and potentially cheering out loud. The screen heavy replacement for such attractions as Disaster!: A Major Motion Picture Ride…Starring You! and Earthquake: The Big One, Fast & Furious – Supercharged was quite an awkward ride.
As it turns out, riding a speeding party bus against massive projection screens isn’t quite fast or furious. That led to Fast & Furious – Supercharged’s Hollywood closure in 2025. An event that Floridians and frequent guests were hoping to manifest themselves. At least the pre-show actors’ work against pre-taped antics with Ludacris and other Fast Saga team members will always be a bright spot in that attraction’s legacy.
If you agree, you’ll be able to enjoy that fun for just a little longer. Orlando’s Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift won’t be opening until some point in 2027. Oh, and Universal – if you have a cast member that will sing “See You Again” on the final day of operation, you owe them a raise.
