Paramount is committed to theatrical releases but it seems like they might want to push some content to Paramount+. The upcoming movie Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender is skipping theaters and heading straight to the streaming service in October 2026. Paramount+ will now be the exclusive home of all animated content from Avatar Studios, the creative force behind the beloved animated series, Avatar: The Last Airbender. The Hollywood Reporter was first with this news.
The new series Avatar: Seven Havens will also head to Paramount+ when it comes out. The news isn’t all bad for fans though, they’ve also announced that Taika Waititi, Geraldine Viswanathan, Dee Bradley Baker, Peta Sergeant, Freida Pinto and Ke Huy Quan have joined previously announced cast members Dave Bautista, Eric Nam, Jessica Matten, Dionne Quan, Román Zaragoza and Steven Yeun.
Here’s what Jane Wiseman, Head of Originals for Paramount+ had to say.
“The Avatar Universe has captivated audiences for two decades, and Paramount+ is proud to be the exclusive streaming home for its beloved animated incarnation. The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender and Avatar: Seven Havens represent the next evolution of storytelling from Avatar Studios — bringing together remarkable talent both in front of and behind the camera to deliver the epic adventures and emotional depth fans have come to expect,” she said, adding, “These additions, alongside The Legend of Korra and the original series, solidify Paramount+ as the destination for the animated Avatar Universe.”
