Love and marriage: they go together like either a horse and carriage, or oil and vinegar. Writer/director Kristoffer Borgli plays with the latter in The Drama; a picture where Robert Pattinson and Zendaya are an engaged couple on the verge. The super cryptic A24-approved teaser (bound to be attached to the fall 2025 movie Marty Supreme) leaves plenty to mystery, to be sure. However, it’s enough to sell me on seeing just how this wedding devolves into a dramatic, bloody spectacle. 

Borgli’s first film since 2023’s Dream Scenario is playing its cards close to the chest. At the same time, the tension includes a message cordially inviting us to partake in this dramedy’s April 3, 2026 debut. Take a moment and decide whether you’ll be attending, through A24’s teaser to The Drama’s – included below: 

There’s something that lurks in the darkness of this plot; and that something is big enough to cause our couple to spiral. Drinking, looks of shock and betrayal, and a bloodied groom are all shown in quick cuts, while Robert Pattinson and Zendaya try to literally put on their best face.

It only amps up the tension when you realize that The Drama is one of those titles so vague, you kind of need to see how it plays out. I doubt it’ll be something as out there as Kristoffer Borgli’s “bonkers” Dream Scenario, in which Nicolas Cage randomly appeared in people’s dreams.

Though if this movie does take that sort of turn, I’d have to respect that sort of crazy – provided it’s properly baked in, of course. For now though, all we have to go on is the trailer above, and this equally intriguing poster:

A24 is laying down the tracks for a truly weird year ahead, thanks to The Drama’s first look and Mother Mary’s first trailer. The depth of that oddness still remains to be discovered, with The Drama unfolding on April 3, 2026, only in theaters.
