This weekend’s box office saw a familiar champion hold its ground while two newcomers entered the mix behind it. While the overall totals were more modest than last weekend’s breakout, the marketplace remained competitive with several films clustered closely together.

Hoppers Holds the Top Spot

Hoppers stayed in first place with $28.5 million in its second weekend.

Hoppers

After exploding out of the gate last week, the family-friendly hit posted a healthy hold. The drop was expected after such a large opening, but the film continues to dominate the marketplace thanks to strong turnout from younger audiences and families looking for accessible theatrical options.

Reminders of Him Surprises With Strong Opening

Reminders of Him debuted with $18.3 million.

This result came in far above expectations. Tracking suggested the film would land somewhere between $8 million and $13 million, with a predicted opening closer to $9 million. Instead, the adaptation nearly doubled that estimate.

While the marketing campaign was quieter than other recent Colleen Hoover adaptations, the dedicated fan base clearly showed up in force. That enthusiasm pushed the film well beyond conservative projections and gave it a very strong second-place debut.

Undertone Enters the Chart

Undertone opened with $9.3 million.

The thriller delivered a respectable start, carving out space between bigger releases. While it did not threaten the top two spots, the debut demonstrates there is still room for mid range genre films to find an audience in theaters.

Scream 7 Continues Its Run

Scream 7 collected $8.4 million in its third weekend.

The horror sequel continues its gradual descent after a massive debut earlier in its run. Even so, remaining in the top five during weekend three shows the franchise still carries plenty of theatrical appeal.

GOAT Rounds Out the Top Five

GOAT added $4.7 million in its fifth weekend.

Five weeks into its theatrical run, the film is now firmly in the late stage of its box office life cycle. Still, maintaining a presence in the top five this far in reflects solid staying power even as newer releases capture audience attention.

Next Weekend’s Predictions

Next weekend brings two new releases targeting very different audiences. Project Hail Mary is currently tracking between $50 million and $65 million, which would instantly make it one of the bigger openings of the late winter frame. The film has strong awareness, recognizable source material, and the kind of scale that tends to pull general audiences into theaters. A debut around $60 million feels like the most realistic landing point.

Meanwhile, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come is aiming for a more modest launch, with tracking sitting between $8.5 million and $13.5 million. The original film built a passionate fanbase, but horror sequels often open smaller unless marketing pushes them into event territory. With that in mind, a debut around $9.5 million seems like the most likely outcome.
