Netflix and Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) have announced the return of former UFC champion and Olympic medalist Ronda Rousey versus combat sports trailblazer Gina Carano. This will be a featherweight bout at 145lbs, taking place at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles on May 16th.
The fight will be streamed globally exclusively on Netflix at no additional cost. Additional fights on the card will be announced at a later date. This marks a historic moment for the streaming giant, as it will be Netflix’s first-ever live MMA broadcast. As well as MVP’s inaugural MMA event.
Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano’s fight will be professionally sanctioned under the Unified Rules of MMA. It will be contested over five, 5-minute rounds using 4oz. gloves inside a hexagon cage.
After Netflix’s success with a variety of boxing events, they hope to bring the same energy to Mixed Martial Arts. Tickets for Rousey vs. Carano will go on sale Thursday, March 5 at 10am PT/1pm ET on Ticketmaster.com. Fans can sign up for presale now at RouseyCarano.com. The event will also feature the return of MVP’s exclusive VIP experiences, including the MVP Owner’s Experience.
