The Scooby-Doo series from Netflix is getting some casting news lately. The series is a live-action adaptation of the classic cartoon. According to Variety, Mckenna Grace is playing Daphne in the upcoming series.
She will star as a young Daphne Blake in the series, which will delve into how the Mystery Inc. gang first met each other. Netflix picked up the series for eight episodes (boo, I know we all want more episodes with our TV series) in March of last year. Here’s the logline from Netflix.
“During their final summer at camp, old friends Shaggy and Daphne (Grace) get embroiled in a haunting mystery surrounding a lonely lost Great Dane puppy that may have been a witness to a supernatural murder, Together with the pragmatic and scientific townie, Velma, and the strange, but ever so handsome new kid, Freddy, they set out to solve the case that is pulling each of them into a creepy nightmare that threatens to expose all of their secrets.”
This isn’t the first time that Grace will play Daphne though, she voiced the character in the 2020 movie Scoob!. She was set to reprise the role in the holiday special Scoob! Holiday Haunt, but that was one of the first movies that WB deleted from existence when they were cost-cutting.
Grace is one of the most prolific and popular actresses in Hollywood right now. She’s appeared in movies like Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Frozen Empire, Scream 7, Five Nights At Freddy’s 2, and the upcoming The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.
Details About The Scooby Doo Series

The series follows in the footsteps of the early 2000s Scooby-Doo live-action films that are immensely popular for that generation. It comes from writers and showrunners Josh Applebaum and Scott Rosenberg. They’ll be executive producing as well alongside André Nemec and Jeff Pinkner under their Midnight Radio banner. Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Leigh London Redman will executive produce via Berlanti productions.
The original animated series kicked off in the late 1960s and continued with multiple animated projects over the years. Scooby-Doo remains one of the most popular animated properties today with multiple films and shows.
