On the fifth day of Christmas 2025, the new trailer for the third season of “Shrinking” has been released. And in addition to catching up with Jason Segel, Harrison Ford, Jessica Williams, and the rest of the cast, we also get a glimpse at none other than guest star Michael J. Fox.
In the trailer, you can see Fox in a waiting room alongside Ford’s Dr. Paul Rhoades, who is now embracing his Parkinson’s diagnosis and treatment after hiding it or resisting it for the majority of the show up to this point. Currently, details surrounding the beloved actor’s character (including his name) are still being kept under wraps. But we can tell that he certainly tell that his sickness hasn’t affected his sense of humor since he responds to Paul’s query about being at the doctor’s office by saying, “Just a haircut.”
Where We’re Going, We Do Need Rhoades
After retiring from acting in 2020 due to the advancement of his Parkinson’s disease, Michael J. Fox has mostly stayed out of the limelight. The actor known for his roles in fan-favorite projects like “Back to the Future” and “Teen Wolf” was featured in the incredible documentary “Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie” and he lent his voice to a couple of animated projects, including the recent Disney feature “Zootopia 2.” However, he has stayed away from live-action roles since his ability to speak wasn’t reliable enough for him to comfortably get back in front of a camera.
Although, just like when he stepped down as the lead of “Spin City” in 2000 because of health concerns then made a memorable guest starring run on “Scrubs,” Fox is coming out of retirement for producer and long-time collaborator Bill Lawrence for the acclaimed Apple TV dramedy about a grieving therapist who takes unorthodox approaches with his patients to help them (and by extension, him) change their lives for the better. The man behind Marty McFly joins an already stacked roster of guests for the latest season, which already includes Segel’s “How I Met Your Mother” co-star Cobie Smulders, “Ted Lasso” star Brett Goldstein, Damon Wayans Jr. of “New Girl” and “Happy Endings” fame, and multi-time award-winner Jeff Daniels.

“Shrinking” season three debuts on Apple TV on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 with a one-hour season premiere episode, followed by one new episode every Wednesday until April 8, 2026.
