Netflix has just dropped the Official Teaser Trailer for Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award Winner Lin Manuel-Miranda’s tick, tick…BOOM! This is the first time Miranda will be sitting in the director’s chair. Adapting the autobiographical musical from his fellow Broadway-mainstay, the late Jonathan Larson (Rent). Here is what you can expect from the film:

The film follows Jon (Academy Award nominee and Tony Award winner Andrew Garfield), a young theater composer who’s waiting tables at a New York City diner in 1990 while writing what he hopes will be the next great American musical. Days before he’s due to showcase his work in a make-or-break performance, Jon is feeling the pressure from everywhere: from his girlfriend Susan, who dreams of an artistic life beyond New York City; from his friend Michael, who has moved on from his dream to a life of financial security; amidst an artistic community being ravaged by the AIDS epidemic. With the clock ticking, Jon is at a crossroads.

Along with Garfield, the movie also stars Alexandra Shipp, Robin de Jesus, Joshua Henry, MJ Rodriguez, Bradley Whitford, Tariq Trotter, Judith Light and Vanessa Hudgens.

CHECK OUT THE OFFICIAL TEASER TRAILER:

Well, this is perfect timing from Netflix to drop this teaser! With In the Heights releasing today, everyone should be riding high on the talent of Lin Manuel-Miranda. Rent is one of my favorite musicals of all-time & Jonathan Larson’s tragic story is rife for the silver screen treatment. I had no idea that Larson wrote this musical as well, so count me beyond excited to see what this talented cast and crew will be able to serve up! Also, it seemed as if Andrew Garfield had all, but disappeared… and now we get two trailers in two days for films that he is starring in!? The guy is a huge talent, so I am so pleased to see him returning to the spotlight.

tick, tick…BOOM! will be premiering in Select Theaters and on Netflix sometime this Fall.
