May I Ask for One Final Thing? thickens up the plot for Scarlet in Ep. 8 “May I Offer You a Fist in Place of a Handkerchief?”. All to enhance the drama and mystery surrounding the events taking place in her country, with Terenezza seemingly at the head of all the unrest there. Ah well, it at least gives Scarlet a reason to pull out the fisticuffs once again.

Synopsis

Quite appropriate to play now that most of the cast is present.

Alas, May I Ask for One Final Thing? is an ongoing anime series. In fact, Ep. 8 “May I Offer You a Fist in Place of a Handkerchief?” only made its debut on November 14, 2025 exclusively on Crunchyroll. Thus, to avoid spoilers for this anime for those who haven’t watched it yet, here’s the official synopsis from Crunchyroll for:

“The pilgrimage proceeds to Snowind, where Scarlet and her crew receive a less than warm welcome.”

You have to admit, she looks quite pretty when she’s de-stressing like this.

Honestly, the most interesting aspect of the story of May I Ask for One Final Thing? Ep. 8 “May I Offer You a Fist in Place of a Handkerchief?” is the fact that it’s an extremely feminist story. Oh, that was pretty obvious due to the fact that Scarlet (voiced by Asami Seto (JP) and Morgan Lauré (EN)) is the main protagonist of that story, but this episode goes deeper than that. It reveals that Terenezza (voiced by Ai Kakuma (JP) and Emily Neves (EN)) is the primary antagonist to counter Scarlet as well.

Thus, we have a story that is driven by female characters on both sides of the equation. It creates a story that easily passes the Bechdel Test with flying colors…and flying bodies as well. It’s pretty easy to see when we have two female characters fighting each other, and not talking about relationships with men for once. Well…not just solely talking about relationships with men.

That bit is actually as amusing as it is fascinating. We have Terenezza, who does talk about a relationship with a man, but only in the context of using it to harm Scarlet as the stereotypical a-hole isekai protagonist she is. Then we have Scarlet herself, who can’t care less and is only interested in punching Terenezza into the sky for reasons almost completely unrelated to a relationship with a man. It’s almost like we have one character try to fail the Bechdel Test, only for the other one to punch it back into place. Talk about Bechdel Test failure averted.

You also have to admit: this looks very yuri out of context.

Alas, May I Ask for One Final Thing? Ep. 8 “May I Offer You a Fist in Place of a Handkerchief?” is where the yuri between Scarlet and Diana (voiced by Kaori Maeda (JP) and Jad Saxton (EN)) of previous episodes gets a bit downplayed. Fortunately, it doesn’t go away entirely. They still have a close relationship with each other. However, the romance of previous episodes is downplayed a bit compared with Diana’s newfound romance for Leonardo (voiced by Shōya Ishige (JP) and Alex Hom (EN)). In effect, it renders the bisexual awakening of the previous episode look more like yuri erasure. I do hope that’s not the case here.
