The second season of Netflix’s live-action adaptation of One Piece hasn’t even made its streaming debut yet of March 10, 2026. Yet, Netflix are so confident of that second season that they’ve already greenlit a third season for production. That news happened a while back. And now, we have proof that it’s seeing some major developments there.

Netflix is proud to announce that production has begun for their live-action One Piece Season 3 in Cape Town, South Africa. The Straw Hat crew from the first season consisting of Iñaki Godoy (Monkey D. Luffy), Mackenyu (Zoro), Emily Rudd (Nami), Jacob Romero (Usopp) and Taz Skylar (Sanji) have made a return there to film for the upcoming third season. Joining them are newcomers Charithra Chandran (Miss Wednesday), Mikaela Hoover (Chopper), Joe Manganiello (Mr. 0), Lera Abova (Miss All Sunday) and Sendhil Ramamurthy (Nefartari Cobra), with Hoover, Manganiello, Abova, and Ramamurthy being promoted to series regulars for that third season. In addition, Cole Escola (Bon Clay) and Xolo Maridueña (Portgas D. Ace) will join the cast for Season 3.

Alas, there’s no release window for One Piece Season 3. We will need to wait for Netflix to give us that news later. Likely after Season 2 makes its debut.

Honestly, this is proof that Netflix has some very high degrees of optimism around their live-action One Piece. As well as they should, because so far, it’s been one of the most successful and critically acclaimed live-action adaptations of an anime series in history. And from the looks of that teaser art above, we’re going to be heading to the Alabasta Kingdom in that season. All that sand is a big clue there, but we’ll just have to see what it’s about when it’s ready. In the meantime, you can check out Season 1 only on Netflix.
