Disney’s Zootopia 2 Is headed for a big weekend at the box office. Deadline reports that the Animated sequel brought in $10 million in previews. That mark would be the 2nd-highest preview total for a Walt Disney Animation Studios movie. For reference, the one ahead of Zootopia 2 is Moana 2, which sailed to $13.8 million last year. Thanksgiving has usually been something for Disney to hang its hat on, and this weekend is looking similar.

However, the tide is keeping everyone riding high at the theater. Wicked: For Good continues to float on that bubble with over $15 million on Tuesday. The broadway adaptation is a hit among audiences and looks to sustain that momentum throughout the week. If you’re thinking about heading to the cinema this weekend, go ahead and get those plans together now!

Early critical returns for Zootopia 2 paint an even more rosy picture. That Hashtag Show’s Mike Reyes reviewed the new animated feature for our site. In his estimation Zootopia 2 threads the needle magnificently. It’s a sequel where the initial premise is expanded upon. But, It also doesn’t keep out any newcomers who might be wondering what’s all this fervor about? Check out what he had to say right here!

“Comedy is a genre that doesn’t always lend itself to franchise filmmaking. While procedurals are conversely too easy to churn out. Hiding in-between those extremes is a sweet spot that isn’t always easy to hit,” Reyes argued. “But Zootopia 2 nails it with its metaphorical tranquilizer dart. No one is left out with the continuing charms of Nick and Judy’s quest for justice, which is fantastic news for people who may have missed the tubes the first time around.”
