Spy x Family Season 3 finally concludes the busjacking arc in Ep. 45 “Take Down the Busjacker” and Ep. 46 “Anya’s Era Has Come”. It’s a conclusion filled awith thrills, drama, and a hilarious dose of comedy as the Red Circus engages in a very tense standoff with the local police and the dreaded SSS. You would think Anya and her school friends would be caught in the middle of them, and you would be partially right. However, they also end up being the key to ending the standoff. Now they just have to deal with what comes after to boot.
Spy x Family Season 3 Ep. 45-46: Details in Brief

Spy x Family Season 3 Ep. 45 “Take Down the Busjacker” and Ep. 46 “Anya’s Era Has Come” are the ninth and tenth episodes (you can read my reviews of Ep. 1, Ep. 2, Ep. 3, Ep. 4, Ep. 5, Ep. 7, and Ep. 8 here) of the third season of this spy action-comedy anime, and the 45th and 46th overall in the series. Said anime is the anime adaptation of the ongoing Spy x Family manga series by Tatsuya Endo.
Wit Studio (Attack on Titan S1-3, Ranking of Kings, Suicide Squad Isekai) and Cloverworks (The Promised Neverland, Bocchi the Rock!, My Dress-Up Darling) remains the animation studios behind this anime, just as they have for the first two seasons. In fact, longtime readers at THS will recall that we reviewed the first and second seasons, plus the Spy x Family Code: White anime film as well. The staff is a bit different this time around though. Yukiko Imai has replaced Kazuhiro Furuhashi and Takahiro Harada as the director, but all other staff are reprising their roles.
The opening theme song for this third season of Spy x Family Season 3 is “Hi o Mamoru” (灯を護る) by Spitz. Meanwhile, “Actor” by Lilas Ikuta is the ending theme song for the same.
Synopsis
Alas, Spy x Family Season 3 is still an ongoing anime series. In fact, Ep. 46 “Anya’s Era Has Come” only just made its debut on November 29, 2025 on Crunchyroll and Hulu. Thus, to avoid spoilers, here’s the synopsis of the episodes below:
Ep. 45 “Take Down the Busjacker”: “Henderson gets on the bus to give the children food and water. Billy remembers his purpose in life.”
Ep. 46 “Anya’s Era Has Come”: “Anya, Becky, Damian, and Bill are given Stella Stars for their quick thinking during the busjacking.”
Spy x Family Season 3 Ep. 45-46: The Good
Since this review covers two episodes of Spy x Family Season 3, we will be splitting this into two segments, starting with:
Ep. 45 “Take Down the Busjacker”

Ep. 45 “Take Down the Busjacker” is the proper finale of the busjacking arc, in my opinion. All because this is the episode where the busjacking itself actually ends. And really, how it ends is the most interesting part of this episode.
The entire situation essentially is a hostage situation that is mostly told through the perspective of a telepathic child. The result is a story that is somehow both deadly serious and comedically farcical. The hijackers plan some truly despicable things in the name of vengeance against an honestly horribly oppressive regime, all while Anya (voiced by Atsumi Tanezaki (JP) and Megan Shipman (EN)) and her friends try to resolve the hijacking via some truly childish logic and reasoning…you know, because they are children. It’s the juxtaposition of serious adult drama and childish innocence that makes this conclusion to the busjacking so fascinating to watch.
All the more so because this episode shows one of the few cases in a show mostly about children in which the protagonist adults are not useless. Far from it, they work just as hard to defuse the situation before the SSS can muck it up, and with no small amount of personal heroism as well. In particular, Henry Henderson (voiced by Kazuhiro Yamaji (JP) and Barry Yandell (EN)) gets a whole lot of kudos here for offering himself as a hostage in order to allow the chaperoning teacher to be sent to a hospital after the hostage-takers tased him. Considering that he’s an unarmed old man, it’s a serious mark of bravery here for him.
The action choreography is also quite entertaining. It strongly indicates desperation on both sides, from the desperation of the police as they drive armored vehicles in the path of the bus to keep it from escaping, to the desperation of one of the terrorists as he uses Anya as a human shield in a last-bid attempt at escape. It gives the action scenes a very human feel to it, emphasizing how everyone in the scene are just regular people.
Ep. 46 “Anya’s Era Has Come”

Ep. 46 “Anya’s Era Has Come” is essentially what happens after all the drama of the busjacking is over and done with. The fallout from that incident includes an award ceremony for Anya, Becky Blackbell (voiced by Emiri Katō (JP) and Dani Chambers (EN)), Damian Desmond (voiced by Natsumi Fujiwara (JP) and Caitlin Glass (EN)), and Bill Watkins (Hiroki Yasumoto (JP) and Jarrod Greene (EN)); and dealing with the trauma resulting from that busjacking. In fact, we see in this episode that Anya literally breaks down into tears the moment Yor (voiced by Saori Hayami (JP) and Natalie Van Sistine (EN)) appears. It’s a fascinatingly realistic depiction of how trauma manifests, since it usually happens after the person who suffered the trauma has a calm moment to process it. Honestly, it will be fascinating to see how that trauma manifests in future episodes of the anime.
Spy x Family Season 3 Ep. 45-46: The Bad

Honestly, as much as Spy x Family Season 3 Ep. 46 “Anya’s Era Has Come” explores the trauma from the busjacking, I feel like it could’ve done more to do that. Maybe include a small scene of Anya having a nightmare about the busjacking, and thus include her parents a bit more in it as they console her? To clarify: what we got was very good. I do think though that it could’ve been a bit better with the inclusion of more trauma coping.
