Awards handicappers will undoubtedly want to know the next fun fact I’m about to lay out. Comparing the National Board of Review’s Best Film winners against the recent history of the Oscars, the last time they predicted the ultimate Best Picture winner was in 2018. So you Marty Supreme review stans out there still have time to rev up those hype engines.
Crowning Green Book as its overall winner, it’s definitely a more controversial example of the overlap between the top film honors of the NBR and the Academy. Should history repeat itself this awards cycle, the reactions to Paul Thomas Anderson’s revolutionary picture point towards a result the public might be able to get behind.
Time will tell is One Battle After Another wins the awards season war, as we won’t know the winners of the 98th Academy Awards until March 15, 2026. The National Board of Review will be holding the gala to honor this year’s winners on January 13th; so it’s not too early to congratulate the winners of this round in the big golden horse race.
