Get ready for a return of Marvel fever. The company announced today that they’ll be re-releasing the theatrical epic Avengers: Endgame in theaters ahead of the Avengers: Doomsday release in 2026. The feature re-enters theaters on September 25th, 2026. We don’t know for how long, so this might be a small window to re-live one of the biggest theatrical events ever.

Avengers: Doomsday is being directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, who directed the previous two Avengers films. It also marks the return of Robert Downey Jr. to Marvel, this time as the villainous Dr. Doom. The new movie is throwing together the recent years teams of Thunderbolts*, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, the Fox versions of X-Men, and many other characters. It easily going to be the biggest cast and most star-studded in movie history.

Avengers: Endgame was the culmination of 10 years of storytelling from Marvel that built up to an explosive conclusion to the Infinity Saga. It gave us plenty of fan-favorite moments, and won over critics and fans alike at the theater. It originally released in theaters on April 26th, 2019. The film is now the second highest-grossing domestic film of all time with $858 million and the second-highest grossing US film internationally with $1.941 billion. It’s only behind Avatar and Ne Zha 2 for the worldwide crown. It had the biggest opening weekend of all time globally raking in $1.2 billion at the box office.

Avengers: Doomsday releases in theaters on December 18th , 2026. The follow-up Avengers: Secret Wars releases in theaters on December 17th, 2027.

This news come on the heels of Netflix buying Warner Bros. and a likely focus on cutting theatrical windows. So in the battle of corporations, at least one of them wants to support movie theaters.
