CinemaCon is finally here and THS is reporting live from all the presentations you’re going to want to hear about. First up this evening is Sony Pictures. We’ve got teases for some heavy-hitters on-deck including

So, settle in, we’ll have an entire rundown of everything that got mentioned during this massive event. Now, you’ll know exactly what to look forward to in theaters in 2026 and beyond! Check out our recap of the Sony Pictures Presentation right here down below!

Sony Pictures Sizzle Reel + The Breadwinner

Sony Pictures logo

It’s only right that Sony Pictures kick things off with a healthy light show and a sizzle reel collecting some favorites from the past. The crowd is into seeing Ghostbusters and the like on the big screen again.

Then, Comedian Nate Bargatze hits the stage to talk about The Breadwinner. It’s a family comedy where Mandy Moore plays his wife. When she has to leave town to pursue a business opportunity to make or break her career, it’s up to this everyman to hold down the fort. There’s a horse!

We got a sneak preview and Mandy Moore is here! The Breadwinner slides into theaters on May 29th. That special look teased some of the madcap action we expect from a bombastic comedy project like this one.

Sony Chairman Tom Rothman

Sony’s head man hits the stage to welcome us all to CinemaCon. Before we get off to the real fireworks, Mr. Rothman is here with his pitch for theater owners. It’s clear that theatrical exhibitors have been feeling the crunch since 2020. (A lot of this is due to market forces.)

Rothman goes on to say that “affordability is the number one issue for theater owners.” He wants admission pricing down, longer theatrical windows and to make sure budgets for individual projects make sense. All of this is common argument on the Internet, but it’s getting some acknowledgement in this packed room.

He also singles out what he believes to be excessive advertising. So, cutting down those ads before movies start seems to be a focus as well. Rothman brings out a main event-level player to kick us off. Who’s ready for Spider-Man?

Spider-Man: Brand New Day

Tom Holland’s return to the red and blue is a lot of things. The Sony Chairman calls it the most emotional Spider-Man film. He also said that Brand New Day is “as big as anything we’ve ever made, but it feels like nothing we’ve ever made.”

Surprises keep coming too. Tom Holland is here…. As a hologram?!? Full Tupac mode for your Friendly Neighborhood Web-Slinger. And now, for a scene from the film.

Peter Parker attends a party that Ned and MJ are throwing. He says his name is Maynard. (LOL smooth Spider-Man.) But, as he’s listening in on his old friends, he sees MJ kissing her new man.

Poor Spidey can’t handle the idea of her with someone else and dips! Whew, our man cannot catch a break in any universe.

Adam Bergerman – Sony President & Insidious

Ty Simpkins in Screen Gems Insidious: The Red Door

The president of Sony is in the house for the next bit of this massive showcase. Insidious has a new trailer for this entry. Title is Insidious: Out of the Further. Director Jacob Chase is taking us back into the smoke for some real haunts.

Trailer is out today! (Interestingly enough, this was teased yesterday by the official accounts and Sony themselves. Here’s how they tease the new movie: “A trio of stalkers infiltrate a quiet suburb and force a new family into the astral plane, where they uncover a terrifying truth: the Further is bleeding into the real world.”

We’ve also got The Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Tears of the Azure Sea out in two weeks from our friends at Bandai Namco Filmworks and a global release from Crunchyroll!

Resident Evil – Zach Cregger

Horror fans, it’s been a good hour and change for you. Resident Evil is coming and Zach Cregger is in the director’s chair this time. He’s been hinting that RE is heading in a new direction with him.

The filmmaker hints that we’re going to see a ton of iconic villains in Resident Evil. From the looks of that teaser, things are about to get very hectic for some of your favorite characters.

Klara in the Sun & The Nightengale

Tri-Star’s Nicole Brown is here to present Klara in the Sun. Jenna Ortega stars in this one. 3000 Pictures produces this film by Taika Waititi. Nobel Prize-winner Kazuo Ishiguro wrote this best-seller. Amy Adams joins Ortega in the picture. It comes out October  23.

Here’s the synopsis: “Klara and the Sun introduces audiences to Klara (Jenna Ortega), an Artificial Friend who wants nothing more than to find the perfect home. When Klara meets Josie (Mia Tharia), each immediately senses a kindred spirit in the other. Josie has a fraught relationship with her mother (Amy Adams) and they’ve suffered great loss, but Klara’s innocent wonder and unwavering loyalty begin to heal the family and bring light to Josie’s complicated world.”

Dakota and Elle Fanning produce The Nightingale. This film tells the story of two sisters torn apart by forces beyond their control as World War II unfurls. Gut-wrenching stuff coming in February of 2027.

Video Game Movie updates and more

Legend of Zelda

Sony Pictures’ Sanford Panitch comes out to get into a downright staggering number of announcements. The director of Godzilla Minus One is making an English-language film for the first time. JJ Abrams’ Bad Robot is producing. The title is Grand Gear, it’s out on February 18, 2028.

Then the first massive gaming bombshell hits. The Legend of Zelda wrapped production and is slated for release on May 7 2027. If that weren’t cool enough, Bloodborne is getting it’s own movie. An R-rated animated feature from JackSepticEye and Lyrical Animation.

Also, apparently there’s a Helldivers movie coming out. Justin Lin, who is here, is directing and Jason Momoa stars. The movie is supposed to drop in 2027.

Social Reckoning & Sony Animation

Remember, we’ve got a sequel for The Social Network coming too. Aaron Sorkin is in the house. Jeremy Strong plays Mark Zuckerberg. There’s a ton of intrigue. This time around, the movie revolves around a Facebook whistleblower.

Teaser is apparently very strong. Trent Renzor and Atticus Ross’s score gets a nice little nod here as well.

Sony Pictures Animation teases Buds, their next original. What happens when a plant talks to a human? You’ll find out in December of 2027.

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse

Miguel O'Hara attacks Miles Morales

So, we’ve got Phil Lord and Chris Miller on stage to hype the “final chapter of Miles Morales’ story.” The producers say that there are no rules for Round 3. Our Spider-Man is going to have to battle incredible odds to return home. And, we got to see a clip.

Things pick up directly where they left off after Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Miles and his variant are gonna throw hands. Get ready to travel the multiverse again on June 18 2027.

Jumanji!

Kevin Hart, Jack Black and The Rock are all here for a special look at the film. Remember Jumani comes out later this year. Dwayne Johnson shows Robin Williams some love for his role in making this franchise into a phenomenon to begin with.

We get a small taste of action to close the presentation out. Jumanji: Open World is headed into our reality this time around. Here’s Sony’s description:

“This Christmas, Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan are reunited in Jumanji: Open World, the hilarious new installment of the wildly successful global action-adventure franchise. Our heroes have escaped the ever-changing jungles of Jumanji before, but this time the game comes to us – as Jumanji breaks free of its console, unleashing its chaos into our world.”

There’s a ton to digest out there. Let us know what you’re most excited about in the comments!
