Day 3 of CinemaCon 2026 closed out with a presentation from Amazon MGM Studios. Although perhaps better known for streaming content, Amazon MGM made a big splash in theaters lately with the highly successful Project Hail Mary. The Ryan Gosling-led sci-fi flick dominated the box office on release, garnering widespread praise from audiences and critics alike.

Tonight at CinemaCon, the studio previewed what else is soon to come, including a look at Masters of the Universe, The Thomas Crown Affair, and more. Check out our full recap of the presentation below.

Michael B. Jordan Kicks Off Amazon MGM Presentation for The Thomas Crown Affair

The Amazon MGM Studios presentation opened with a live piano performance by singer-songwriter Jon Batiste. Then, a trailer played for The Thomas Crown Affair. The 2027 romantic heist flick remake comes from director Michael B. Jordan. Jordan took the stage after the trailer played to discuss the film. He revealed Batiste would compose the film’s score.

Star Adria Arjona joined Jordan on stage. They discussed shooting the movie specifically for IMAX (much like Jordan’s recent hit with Ryan Coogler, Sinners).

Project Hail Mary’s Success & Amazon’s Commitment to Theaters

Project Hail Mary

Head of Amazon MGM Studios Mike Hopkins took the CinemaCon stage next. He discussed the studio’s recent smash hit with Project Hail Mary, referencing it’s grossed over $500 million at the global box office to date. Hopkins also said they’ve made a commitment to put out 15 films a year in theaters.

Next, Project Hail Mary star Ryan Gosling and directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller came on stage to thank audiences for seeing the movie. In fact, due to fan enthusiasm, they’re extending the theatrical window for Project Hail Mary. So if you haven’t seen it yet (or you want to go again!) you can.

Kevin Wilson, Head of Theatrical Distribution, appeared next. He reiterated the importance of films being in theaters, and said Hail Mary is “just the start” for the studio.

Masters of the Universe

Amazon MGM kicked things off for one of their most anticipated titles, Masters of the Universe before the presentation even started. CinemaCon attendees nabbed their own He-Man Sword of Power, stamped with the film’s release date June 5.

Following the discussion of the studio’s theatrical commitments and the success of Project Hail Mary, the presentation jumped to Masters of the Universe. Director Travis Knight took the stage along with stars Nicholas Galitzine (He-Man) and Camilla Mendes (Teela). Galitzine came ready for battle with his own Sword of Power. The CinemaCon audience was treated to footage from the film – which many watched with their own swords raised in the air! The clip featured Beastman chasing Prince Adam down a highway while the song “What’s Going On” plays; Teela then swoops in to save him.

Beekeeper, Bond & Beyond

Next up: Beekeeper 2. The action sequel brought out star Jason Statham to debut a clip. Jeremy Irons plays the main villain. The story sees the active beekeepers going rogue and trying to kill Agent Dunn. So naturally, Statham’s Adam Clay has to step in. Things escalate… the president gets kidnapped. Dunn tells an injured Clay he needs a hospital, to which he replies he has something better… a bee sting stops bleeding.

Amazon MGM Studios Head of Film Courtenay Valenti took the stage next. She said the studio plans to lean into both beloved IP and new originals.

In February of last year, Amazon MGM secured the rights to the James Bond franchise. So everyone has been wondering… who is the next 007? Well, you’ll have to keep wondering unfortunately. Valenti said the studio is taking their time to choose a new Bond to make sure they get it right.

Getting RAM-bunctious with The Sheep Detectives

Next to the stage: Hugh Jackman and Nicholas Braun for The Sheep Detectives. They made quite a few sheep puns before introducing an extended look at the comedic whodunnit. The film premieres in just a few weeks on May 8.

Time for Crime

After featuring this lighthearted “crime” flick, the Amazon MGM presentation continued with a much more serious crime drama, A Colt Is My Passport. The film from director Gareth Evans (The Raid) stars Sope Dirisu as a Vietnam vet-turned contract killer who finds himself in trouble after taking out a powerful gang boss.

Then, with some dirt bike action, the presentation shifted to How to Rob a Bank. The action-heist flick from The Fall Guy director David Leitch is about a group of bank robbers who post their heists to social media. Leitch appeared on stage, along with one of the stars, Pete Davidson. The film also stars Nicholas Hoult, Christian Slater, and Zoe Kravitz.

Sue Kroll, Head of Marketing for Amazon MGM Studios, arrived and announced bespoke campaigns planned for all films.

Then, Mahershala Ali arrived with director Bassam Tariq for Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother. Details about this one have been under wraps so far, but CinemaCon guests got a first look. Ali plays a single father who’s also a sword-wielding hitman. The film arrives this fall. So, expect more updates about this one in the months to come.

The Next Colleen Hoover Adaptation: Verity

It Ends With Us. Regretting You. Reminders of Him. And soon, Verity. Adaptations of author Colleen Hoover’s work are everywhere in the last couple years, and Amazon MGM’s getting ready to debut another. Verity stars Dakota Johnson as a woman who’s hired as a ghostwriter to finish an author’s (Anne Hathaway) novel after she suffers an accident. It arrives in theaters October 2.

The next chapter of biblical series The Chosen will be a standalone film, The Chosen: Crucifixion. It’s slated for 2027.

Spaceballs 2

Spaceballs

In a hard turn from the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, next on deck was Spaceballs 2. Yup, a sequel to the 1987 Star Wars parody. Darth Helmet appeared on screen, demanding all the cinemas – even the ones with sticky floors! Director Josh Greenbaum took the stage, and brought out a bunch of the main cast: Bill Pullman, Daphne Zuniga, Josh Gad, Lewis Pullman, and Rick Moranis.

When asking Moranis a question, Gad answered for him. When Moranis gets a second question, Keke Palmer appears on screen, interrupting him.

CinemaCon audiences got to see footage from the film. Then Moranis pulled out a speech…and Mel Brooks interrupts him. The film’s official title is revealed to be Spaceballs: The New One. It’s just like the old one, but newer.

After, Head of International Theatrical Distribution Helen Moss took the stage to address the need for global cinema.

Fighters & The Finish

Nearing the end of the presentation, Amazon MGM Studios offered a quick tease of Highlander. The film about immortal warriors is only halfway through production at the moment. The cast includes Russell Crowe, Karen Gillan, Henry Cavill, Djimon Hounsou, Dave Bautista, Jeremy Irons, and more. The story will see the immortals face off with one another to obtain a coveted power… one of those “there can only be one” situations.

Keeping with the fighting spirit, the studio teased I Play Rocky next. It’s about a struggling actor trying to land the role of boxer Rocky Balboa. (Essentially, a dramatization of Sylvester Stallone’s experience in Rocky.) Director Peter Farrelly and the cast appeared on stage and debuted footage. I Play Rocky premieres November 13.

Finally, the presentation closed with a teaser sizzle reel, and everyone came back on stage for a group pic.
